Go Global

February 10th, 2008 by Andy

We here at the Branch talk a lot about joining God’s mission right here where we live. We focus mostly on being a people sent into our neighborhood or workplace. But God loves the whole world, right? Right!

So that means we have to care about more than just our little corner of creation, and we do! There are a few ways that we as a community participate in God’s mission on a global scale. For example, we have had a few folks from our community travel to distant lands to join in mission there. I encourage you to seek them out and hear there story. In fact, you can listen right now if you head over to Kathy’s blog right over here.

But we as a community are also a very real part of a longer term effort to bless the nations. The Branch helps to support the Beebout family as they follow God on mission in the country of Niger. Jeremy and Susan use there skills in the agriculture and health fields to build relationships and bless people with the love God. I encourage you to head over to their blog and get to know them a bit better.

RESOLUTE: Community (a follow-up)

Surprise, surprise, I realized after Sunday’s message that I had more to say. I know. It’s shocking. In this video you’ll find some practical ways to engage community at the Branch.

My Other Life

December 5th, 2007 by Andy

Most of you know that I make videos for a local website called Rapid Growth. This week includes a video I’ve made about riding the bus. We’re trying to create a little buzz around transit issues in advance of a meeting of the Kent County Commissioners about transit next week. For a number of reasons, transit is an issue that I personally feel we should care about. A quality and viable transit system is good creation care, connects us as a community and touches on matters of social justice as well. I encourage you to watch the video below and if you’ve got a moment to click through to YouTube and leave a comment to tell the world how you feel about Public Transit in GR.

What?!? No Worship?!?

August 28th, 2007 by chris
This week, the Branch is not gathering for worship on Sunday - pure craziness, we know. But there’s actually a reason for our madness.

CREATE Video

August 27th, 2007 by chris

Last week we hosted an arts camp on Tuesday-Thursday evening called CREATE. We invited kids from the surrounding neighbohoods to take one of five workshops (paint, voice, dance, video, and photography). Then, on Friday, we had a concert/art gallery in which those that had participated in CREATE could show off their stuff. It was a fantastic, beautiful evening.
